Visit Me on CD Baby

"With her powerful imagery and sultry-sweet voice, Sharon has become my favorite artist. I think I've worn grooves into her 'Mirror, Mirror' CD!" - KS , Santa Cruz, CA

True Original
The Metro (Santa Cruz) - Timm R.
“Although the media and music industry consistently like to rely on comparing unequaled talent to previous music legends, it’s safer to say that Sharon (Bousquet) is a true original.”
Smoking Angel
Run Like Hell Records (Texas) - Devi Puckett
“An eclectic acoustic soundscape… mixing jazzy blues with acoustic rock and finger-style guitar work… add the voice of a smoking angel and you get the gist."
Gotta Hear Her
Canyon Lake Weekly - Shane Bagwell
“If you haven’t heard the music of Sharon Bousquet, I feel sorry for you… like Joni Mitchell meets Leo Kottke.”
Bubble, Bubble…
The Metro (Santa Cruz) - RP
"Whether she's playing the smoldering blues, soulful rock or country-tinged folk, Sharon Bousquet does everything with sultry grace. She's a woman with so much music inside her, it's as if she can't help but let it bubble out all steamy-like across a wide range of genres.... She has considerable prowess on the acoustic guitar, yet she puts her instrument down occasionally to belt out an a cappella tune like the gospel-tinged "Temple".... Bousquet has the substance to rise to the top."
Message to the Prez
Good Times Weekly
"Sharon Bousquet offers a different side of the Lone Star State. Think a hippie-fied Alanis Morissette, 'unplugged.' Her voice is strong, while her message is earthy and inspirational. With songs like "Blind and Asleep" and "Not Enough Love," Bousquet encourages people "to be compassionate, to love well, and to help those less fortunate than ourselves" - a message we can all learn from, including the most powerful Texan in the world."
Magic!
The Muse News (Iowa) - Le Pon
“..sweet lead vocals, and lots of major league musicianship. There’s magic going on here.”
Raising Eyebrows
”Local Flavor (Corpus Christi, TX) - Mike & Sue Donahoe
“The rich voice, slight jazz influence, and deeply personal lyrics...are raising Austin's eyebrows. "Straight Through Your Heart", "I Forgot To Love You", and "A Place To Pray" are this new fan's favorites.
Take Notice
Good Times
“Immeasurable talent… consider yourself notified.”
Eros on the Brain
The Metro (Santa Cruz) - Audiophile
"...Yes, she's a young woman with Eros on the brain, but she takes the low road with her expression of it - she doesn't go Liz Phair's frisky "Love's done me wrong" route, nor does she do the sappy, Sarah McLachlan "Love is like ice cream" routine. Instead, Bousquet goes subtly into lovelorn poetics and earthy trysts, leaving songs like "I Don't Miss You" and "Want You Enough" strewn across the floor...it's Bousquet's fine spun, visceral songwriting and throaty limpid voice that make Mirror, Mirror worth a listen."
Mirror, Mirror CD Review
The Sentinel - Adrienne Rogers
This collection of 11 original songs chronicles the writer's musical "journey into love." It's obviously an intensely personal project. Even the CD booklet comments read like private journal jottings.

"Neverland No More" is a jazz-inflected poem addressing the singer's ambivalence in the face of love's ending. The chimey "A Place to Pray" closes the collection with the writer's discovery of peace within love and divinity within humanity.

The mostly quiet revelatory songs occasionally bubble with blues or jazz rhythms. "Want You Enough" plays out like a sexy, a capella white-girl holler. In "Don't Miss You," Bousquet's dark vocals smolder into a bluesy rant, with solo bass accompaniment.

Featuring the sparest of arrangements - Bousquet on vocals and guitar, Chris MacLean on acoustic bass and Tim Britton on Uillean pipes, flute and pennywhistle - each song has a unique mood, tempo and sound.
